Air Source Heat Pumps
Professional air source heat pump installation delivering efficient, low-carbon heating and reliable year-round performance solutions.
A comfortable heat-pump home begins with proper design, not simply replacing a boiler with an outdoor unit. Period properties, woodland-edge homes and some off-gas locations create a strong case for a survey-led comparison.
We develop the heating, hot-water and control strategy around the individual property. Further information is available through our air source heat pump design and installation service.

Older fabric, exposed elevations and extensions can result in higher or uneven heat loss. Insulation and draught improvements can reduce demand, but recommendations should respect the construction and moisture behaviour of the building. The proposed heat pump is then sized for the evidenced fabric rather than an idealised home.
Emitter performance must be checked before deciding the flow temperature that the system will need in colder weather. Each room is checked for required output at the proposed water temperature. This shows which emitters can remain, which may need more surface area and whether pipework or balancing work belongs in the scope.
A unit should avoid recirculating discharge air and be assessed for boundaries, windows, vegetation and access. The design considers airflow, recirculation, condensate drainage, service clearance, pipe length and visual impact together. The quietest-looking corner is not always the best technical position.
Grant eligibility and the final system cost depend on the individual property and proposed replacement heating system. Running-cost outcomes depend on current fuel price, existing efficiency, heat demand, electricity tariff and system performance. The proposal should use property evidence rather than promising that every fuel switch will reduce bills.
For this part of the design, the survey uses property evidence rather than a standard allowance. Eligible property owners may currently receive support through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, with the MCS-certified installer applying on their behalf. Eligibility, technology and grant value must be confirmed for the individual project before the discount is relied upon.

Potentially. Older fabric, exposed elevations and extensions can result in higher or uneven heat loss. Suitability also depends on emitters, hot-water needs, electrical supply and a workable outdoor position, so a survey and room-by-room design are required.
Yes, correctly selected modern heat pumps are designed to operate in winter conditions. Output and efficiency change with outdoor temperature and water temperature, so the design must use the manufacturer’s performance data at the relevant conditions.
The position needs adequate airflow, service access, drainage and a suitable base, together with an acceptable visual and acoustic relationship to windows, boundaries and outside areas. Pipe distance and protection also influence the choice.
Sometimes. Each radiator should be checked for the room heat loss at the proposed flow temperature. Some may be retained, while others may need more surface area or a different design. Pipework and system balancing also matter.
Eligible property owners may receive Boiler Upgrade Scheme support. The scheme is installer-led and an MCS-certified installer applies on the owner’s behalf. Eligibility and the grant available should be confirmed for the property and technology at the time of application.
The system should be maintained in line with manufacturer and installer guidance. Routine checks can cover the outdoor unit, filters or strainers, system pressure, controls, water quality and recorded performance, depending on the design.
