Air Source Heat Pumps
Professional air source heat pump installation delivering efficient, low-carbon heating and reliable year-round performance solutions.
Air source heat pumps can provide efficient low-carbon heating when the building, emitters and controls are designed as one system. Older village properties, new estates and rural-edge homes can involve gas, oil, LPG or electric heating.
The proposal sets out system sizing, required upgrades and practical installation work before commitment. Visit our main heat pump service page for the full customer journey.

Traditional walls, roof rooms and later extensions should be represented in a room-by-room heat-loss calculation. A room-by-room calculation establishes the output needed in colder design conditions. It provides the basis for appliance size, emitter output and operating temperature without relying on the previous boiler rating.
The survey checks whether radiators, underfloor heating and pipework can deliver the required output at efficient temperatures. Each room is checked for required output at the proposed water temperature. This shows which emitters can remain, which may need more surface area and whether pipework or balancing work belongs in the scope.
The project should account for grant eligibility, removal of redundant equipment and the practical installation sequence. Running-cost outcomes depend on current fuel price, existing efficiency, heat demand, electricity tariff and system performance. The proposal should use property evidence rather than promising that every fuel switch will reduce bills.
Rural plots may offer more siting options, but airflow, distance, electrics and maintenance access still matter. The design considers airflow, recirculation, condensate drainage, service clearance, pipe length and visual impact together. The quietest-looking corner is not always the best technical position.
For this part of the design, the survey uses property evidence rather than a standard allowance. Eligible property owners may currently receive support through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, with the MCS-certified installer applying on their behalf. Eligibility, technology and grant value must be confirmed for the individual project before the discount is relied upon. For the Great Dunmow proposal, this is checked against the wider building and heating profile.

Potentially. Traditional walls, roof rooms and later extensions should be represented in a room-by-room heat-loss calculation. Suitability also depends on emitters, hot-water needs, electrical supply and a workable outdoor position, so a survey and room-by-room design are required.
A home does not need to meet one universal insulation standard, but avoidable heat loss can increase required output and running cost. Suitable improvements should be considered in the context of the building rather than applied as a generic checklist.
Sound depends on the model, operating condition, position, distance and nearby reflecting surfaces. A site-specific acoustic assessment is more useful than comparing one headline decibel figure with a household appliance.
Some domestic installations in England can be permitted development when the applicable limits and conditions are met. Listed buildings, flats, conservation considerations and local restrictions can require a different approach, so the proposed position should be checked.
An air-to-water heat pump can serve space heating and a suitable hot-water cylinder. Cylinder capacity, recovery, hygiene cycles and peak household demand need to be designed alongside the heating system.
The on-site period depends on cylinder work, radiator or pipework changes, electrical upgrades, access and removal of the old system. Survey, design, grant administration and equipment scheduling occur before the installation itself.
