Air Source Heat Pumps
Professional air source heat pump installation delivering efficient, low-carbon heating and reliable year-round performance solutions.
Good heat-pump performance depends on the relationship between the building fabric, heat emitters, controls and household routine. Established housing, newer development and rural-edge properties can involve gas, oil, LPG or electric heating.
We develop the heating, hot-water and control strategy around the individual property. Further information is available through our air source heat pump design and installation service.

Exposure, insulation and later alterations are reflected in the room heat-loss model. A room-by-room calculation establishes the output needed in colder design conditions. It provides the basis for appliance size, emitter output and operating temperature without relying on the previous boiler rating.
Emitter and pipework checks establish a workable design temperature for the whole system. Each room is checked for required output at the proposed water temperature. This shows which emitters can remain, which may need more surface area and whether pipework or balancing work belongs in the scope.
Grant eligibility and project timing should be confirmed before the installation programme is fixed. Running-cost outcomes depend on current fuel price, existing efficiency, heat demand, electricity tariff and system performance. The proposal should use property evidence rather than promising that every fuel switch will reduce bills.
Larger plots may offer siting choice, but pipe distance, electrics, drainage and access still matter. The design considers airflow, recirculation, condensate drainage, service clearance, pipe length and visual impact together. The quietest-looking corner is not always the best technical position.
For this part of the design, the survey uses property evidence rather than a standard allowance. Eligible property owners may currently receive support through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, with the MCS-certified installer applying on their behalf. Eligibility, technology and grant value must be confirmed for the individual project before the discount is relied upon. For the Huntingdon proposal, this is checked against the wider building and heating profile.

Potentially. Exposure, insulation and later alterations are reflected in the room heat-loss model. Suitability also depends on emitters, hot-water needs, electrical supply and a workable outdoor position, so a survey and room-by-room design are required.
Yes, correctly selected modern heat pumps are designed to operate in winter conditions. Output and efficiency change with outdoor temperature and water temperature, so the design must use the manufacturer’s performance data at the relevant conditions.
The position needs adequate airflow, service access, drainage and a suitable base, together with an acceptable visual and acoustic relationship to windows, boundaries and outside areas. Pipe distance and protection also influence the choice.
Sometimes. Each radiator should be checked for the room heat loss at the proposed flow temperature. Some may be retained, while others may need more surface area or a different design. Pipework and system balancing also matter.
Eligible property owners may receive Boiler Upgrade Scheme support. The scheme is installer-led and an MCS-certified installer applies on the owner’s behalf. Eligibility and the grant available should be confirmed for the property and technology at the time of application.
The system should be maintained in line with manufacturer and installer guidance. Routine checks can cover the outdoor unit, filters or strainers, system pressure, controls, water quality and recorded performance, depending on the design.
