A split air source heat pump consists of an outdoor fan unit and an indoor hydro unit (which is around the same size as a combi boiler). While the outdoor fan unit extracts ambient air from outside the property, the indoor unit heats the refrigerant and transfers its heat to the water in the central heating system (which is the same size as a combi boiler).
Because the indoor unit is the part that is connected to the central heating system, a split air source heat pump is an ideal solution for properties that do not have an available space for the outdoor unit in close proximity to the building.
