What to expect from the engineer during a Heat Pump Service?
We’ve summarised those tasks for you below, so you can have a better idea of what to expect on the day.
Normally this takes between 1-2 hours.
Please have for the engineer a copy of the manufacturers’ instructions for your Heat pump system to hand on the day along with any warranty documents.
During your heat pump service, the engineer carry out the following;
1. Test the heat pump by switching it on briefly and making sure it’s working properly, then isolate your heating system electrically using test equipment. They’ll also check whether the fuse rating for your heat pump is correct.
2. Take a close look at the heat pump’s internal and external parts, which may involve removing its case. They’ll be checking for any signs that something is wrong, such as evidence of corrosion or water leaks.
3. Clean the heat pump and its parts if necessary, in line with the manufacturers’ instructions.
4. Safely reinstate the electrical supply (see step 2),
5. Check that neither the heat pump or its connecting pipework is leaking.
6. Make sure any heat pump safety devices are working properly. If they find any safety defects they’ll share full details of the fault with you, and fix them where possible. This may incur additional charges depending on your service plan with us!
7. Talk you through the next steps of repairing your Heat pump. If they can’t resolve any problems they find, explaining which options are available to correct the Faults. This may incur additional charges depending on your service plan with us!
8. Complete the Benchmark service record, recording all of the relevant information from the service and Warranty documentations.
9. They’ll also share any routine documentation with you, as well as any other information you request.
10. This isn’t a one size fits all list but it will give you an idea of what the engineer will be doing on the day!
