Air Conditioning FAQs
Speak To An ExpertHow much does it cost to install air conditioning?
We stock a range of different air conditioning systems to suit varying budgets and requirements. A new air conditioning system from us comes at a fixed, fair price, so you don’t have to worry about any additional costs. Simply choose the system and deal you want and be confident there will be no hidden charges upon installation.
Why is my air conditioning running but not cooling?
If you’re finding your air conditioning system isn’t cooling as it should, there could be several reasons. You may have an underlying problem, or, if your system is quite old, you may want to investigate getting an upgrade. Whatever it is, Green Energy Homes have the right team available to get to the bottom of a problem.
How does air conditioning work?
Refrigerant is circulated between an indoor and outdoor unit extracting heat from inside to outside in the summer. The system can also be reversed so that in winter you can use your indoor unit to heat your home too. It’s basically like a big fridge; the evaporator, compressor and condenser components inside the units work together to change the refrigerant from gas to liquid and back again.
As well as wall mounted units, portable air conditioning units can be used to cool smaller spaces but are no substitute from a properly installed system with internal and external units. Normally the small portable systems cannot do heating either. In addition to cooling / warming the air inside your home, some modern air conditioning units also cleanse the air that circulates your home.
When should I buy an air conditioner?
It’s always better to prepare well in advance. If your reason for investing in an air conditioning system is to keep your home cool in the summer months, then a good time to invest would be in the springtime. However, because air conditioning provides many health benefits, there’s no time like the present to treat your home to clean air.
If you are looking for efficient heating, many people are now turning to split system air conditioning units because they transfer heat rather than “create” heat. It’s not uncommon now for a modern air conditioning system to provide 3+kW of heating performance for every 1kW used to run the system.
What should I look for when buying an air conditioner?
The size of your air conditioning system is one of the most important factors to take into account before you buy. It’s also wise to look into the different features you need in a system, including energy efficiency rating, a schedule timer and remote-control compatibility.
