What is an air source heat pump?

An air source heat pump uses the energy from the outside air to heat the building. It’s a very energy-efficient (500%) and is a good way of generating heat which is supported by the government’s new Clean Heat Grant, which had replaced the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme now.

Air source heat pumps are the more expensive option than many traditional heating systems, but the benefit to the environment is considerable. The high cost of air source heat pump installation has often been deemed a problem for many homeowners, when compared to a new gas boiler installation for example. However, the real benefit comes both in the carbon-free emissions and the significant reduction of ongoing energy bills.
